Enough
If I could, I would drink my fresh cuppa without coldly forgetting it and spitting it into the sink.
If I could, I would put the washing out before the rain comes and damns the summer.
If I could, I would finish the housework to calm my mind of every worry.
If I could, I would have a healthy breakfast to fuel my body with the goodness of old blue bread.
If I could, I would go running every day away from the pleasures of life and become a gay Adonis.
If I could, I would feel well despite the chattering bracken clawing at my knees.
If I could, I would tirelessly speak to stop my lead tongue from biting my teeth in shame.
If I could, I would sleep through the night and dream sweet dreams instead of parking ticket nightmares.
If I could, I would die every time I failed to defeat my universe's problems, embarrassingly.
If I could, I would undo my birth to save the world from this poem, and be enough.

Today's prompt was a challenge to write a poem that directly addresses someone, and that includes a made-up word, an odd/unusual simile, a statement of “fact,” and something that seems out of place in time (like a Sonny & Cher song in a poem about a Greek myth). With this poem I wanted to write to Walt Whitman, a poet I adore, creating the word 'mastranger' from 'master' and 'stranger'. The rest of the poem can speak for itself. Mestron ...
