#NaPoWriMo continues and today was the biggest challenge of the writing prompts so far, playing with rhyme. play with rhyme. We had to start by creating a “word bank” of ten simple words of one or two syllables. The first five should correspond to each of the five senses. The next three more should be concrete nouns, and the last two should be verbs. Then we had to find words to rhyme with these.
As I rhyme in a lot of my poetry, I decided to add an extra challenge to today's prompt, namely writing using cynghanedd - a special type of rhyming within lines or words themselves, predominantly used in Welsh poetry. I'm no expert using cynghanedd at all, and prior to today I had only ever written a few short lines. This example is by no means perfect, but it's a start for me and I certainly will be trying this again in the future.
I have attached two images here today, ones showing my word bank and the rhymes (based on the principle of cynghanedd draws), and the other showing the rhymes within my poem.
